The Boys Are in Town!

August and Liam were born on May 20, both 6 pounds 11 ounces. In twinspeak, that's a nice healthy size! Cortnie and I couldn't be happier with this double luck! This just all seems so right. Here they are ...

I think that August and Liam both look like past presidents of the United States. Which presidents do you think they look like? (August Henry to left, Liam Richard to right.)

I couldn't resist this one. A moment later, Liam was sucking on August's nose! Only with twins. (AH to left, LR to right.)

Cortnie and I are getting ready to load the boys into their car seats for the ride home.

Brothers on the campaign trail. They must be in town on a whistle-stop. (August to left, Liam to right.)

I just knew my juggling skills would pay off some day.

Thanks so much for all of your support of and interest in these two boys' lives. We will share more pictures and information soon.

Hurry Up and Wait

The ultrasound today revealed that both boys are doing wonderfully; growing very comfy and apparently not interested in going anywhere just yet. Of course all the twins material I've read stated that almost all twins come early which is something my OB confirmed so I've been on high alert these past couple of weeks. But then today my OB said that because I'm doing so great and the babies are doing so great they just might go full term. "You mean 40 weeks full term?? That's not possible right??" I asked her with panic in my voice. How in the world can I get any bigger than what I am now? And if I do get bigger will I be confined to the house waddling around in a muumuu? Oh, lord. Well, yes, it actually is possible for twins to go full term. Rare but possible. That would put us in the early-mid June range. So the bottom line is that it's any body's guess when these little babies will decide to enter into the world and the best thing for G and I to do is enjoy each and every moment until then, muumuu or not.

35 week update

Today at my checkup:

I'm measuring at 41 cm which is why I look (and feel) unusually large! I'm a week overdue sizewise in the singleton world. Geez Louise.

I'm 1 little cm dilated which really doesn't indicate when these babies will make their debut but it does of course mean I'm on the way! And my OB said that basically it's kind of an "any time now" situation although she did give me specific dates for when it would be best for me to go into labor. She said this Saturday would be great because she's on call at the hospital. Hmm....yes, I'll see what I can do.

And one of the babies is waiting patiently head down while the other is breech. At this point I have the green light to go ahead and go into labor and have these little babies the good old fashioned way! We'll have to wait and see what they want to do.... :)
