Lucy's Birthday at Playland

We all had so much fun celebrating Lucy's 5th birthday at Playland in Roeding Park. I got to relive a bit of my childhood as I looked around at all of the familiar rides and fixtures (especially the Lion drinking fountain!) I love the fact that it has been restored to it's original whimsical beauty, just as it had been on my 5th birthday! (Well, that birthday was technically celebrated in Storyland but we'll have to save that for the boys on our next visit....)

It was a fantastic birthday complete with homemade Coffee Heath Bar Crunch ice cream and white funfetti cake made by G. Oh, and the birthday party was a surprise too! :)

Summer Camping by the Sea

I've never been much of a camper and in the ten years I've been married to a camping/backpacking lover, we've been camping zero times. So I was surprised by how much fun G and I and the boys had camping. I was stressed about how the boys would sleep, or not sleep, but they did fine - they even napped well inside our bright sunlit tent. (It probably helped that they were utterly exhausted.) The fact that we were camping near the beach with two of our dear friends and their children just made it that much better. And it was the first time the boys set eyes on the ocean and they loved it. The waves were a little scary at first but then lots of stomping and squealing in the water ensued. We had the best time. I can't wait to do it again next year!
