Baby Shower #2

My good friend Priscilla said she would love to host a baby shower for me but that holding it at her place would be impossible due to her kitchen being in the ruins of a remodel. She said she and some other friends would take care of everything, food, drink, decor, extra seating, etc. so I said it would be no problem to have it at our place. A few short days before the shower however just as I was beginning to seriously dread the cleaning of the house our plumbing decided to back up. I realized (after a quick freak-out) that this was in fact a divine stroke of good fortune. Instead of asking one of my other friends to host a very late notice shower, I thought, why not have it at Dagny's, our beloved coffee shop downtown? And that's just what we did and it was wonderful. We took up a whole cozy section where there was a very pretty spread of good eats, pretty flowers, and cupcakes!

P.S. I didn't personally take pictures of this shower either so you'll just have to imagine it until one of the girls sends some pics my way....and yes, this is the same outfit I wore to Shower #1 but I'm allowed to do that. I'm pregnant.

Me, relishing the fact that I did not have to clean, tidy or fix up the house a single bit.

First time wearing cute girly heels since I don't know how long. Although I loved wearing them, my feet did not.

Baby Shower #1

We attended our very first baby shower last Saturday, a la "couples" style, hosted by Carlita and Rebecca. They fed us so well with great Italian food and cupcakes. We received some much appreciated diaper service donations (did I mention we're trying the whole cloth diaper thing? I know, we're such ambitious hippies) as well as some darn cute baby apparel including matching onesies and flip flops. Seeing all those tiny things made the whole reality of the situation set in a bit more, like, "hmmm, I guess all of these things will be used on actual babies - Our babies! Oh my god, we're having babies!"

It was awesome to be there with our Fresno peeps that we don't get to see a lot of - especially Mark and Carlita's daughter Cleo who at a year and a half was pretty much the life of the party. :)

The bad thing that we realized later is that we took not a single picture of the whole event! I know at least one of our friends did so when she sends them our way, we'll post them.

Thank you to our dear friends for all your hard work and generosity!

27 weeks

My attempt at making myself look "smaller" by holding my 16 lb cat.
Of course Cotty is acting all bothered when he's the one that asked to be featured in the blog this week.

We took our first of three Birthing Classes at the hospital and it was much better than we thought it would be. Our instructor is a straight-shootin' grandma type who has attended over 1,000 births so the lady knows what she's talking about.
We (the pregnant ladies) practiced focusing on breathing through the pain of being pinched by our loving birth partners. I think the dudes secretly liked this part. She also gave us good tips on how our partners can help relax us through the entire birthing process via massage, verbal and physical support, and overall doing whatever the heck we want. (The last part is my interpretation.)
And it wouldn't be a real birthing class unless there was a video of half (or sometimes fully) naked women giving birth in all it's ooey glory. Yay, can't wait!

A post from an adoring Auntie

Yesterday my sister and Lucy came to visit and we had the best day going to the park, having grilled cheese, reading books, taking naps, following the cats around, having a snack picnic on the front lawn, watching Elmo, looking for the babies in Auntie Cortnie's belly, talking to Uncle Gary about Disneyland, eating spaghetti and having "special treats" aka cookies.

Ashley also lent us a number of great baby gear items such as a Baby Bjorn, Infantino carrier, a bouncy seat, a floor activity mat and mobile and some diapers and pacifiers. Thanks so much, sis!

The swings were a major highlight - Lu could not go high enough or fast enough.

Lucy followed our dusty looking cats around saying, "Cwemie and Cotty need soap and water."

After discussing the invisible babies in my tummy Lu stated with her hand on my belly "Open it up!"
I'm guessing somewhat like a car trunk which would be just fine with me. :)
